Cue Massive Attack's Mezzanine to the very beginning of the 1919 film "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari." The automated human - the somnambulist - moves in time to the sleepwalking sonic dreamscapes of the album with the mechanized insects. NOTE: There are several different versions of "Caligari" available on VHS and DVD, each with its own running length. The reason for the discrepency is due to different intertitles, which play for varying durations. As a result, Massive Caligari Attack will not work as well with some versions of the film. The tinted DVD version does NOT work well in this synch. |
